Why We Christians Don't Celebrate Halloween

Halloween is a pagan holiday, which is a satanic holiday. This is blasphemy! I am a Christian and I have never grown up celebrating Halloween like most people. My parents did not encourage the costumes, the scary decorations and the tricks.

Jesus would never hide from this evil holiday, but he would stand against and refuse to participate in it, and He commands his followers to do the same: “Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul” ( 1 Pet. 2:11).

You will give the devil permission to harm you spiritually if you participate in the trick-or-treat ritual for any reason. Ephesians 4:27 warns: “and do not give the devil a foothold”. Never fail to remember that: Jesus came to serve the sick and broken. He loved being at the well, by the sea, and in the marketplace. He would never have said "run and hide, its Halloween!"

Remember what Jesus said:

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).

Sinning against God by celebrating Satan's special day is not letting our light shine. It is handing ourselves over to Satan so we will become spiritual casualties. Some Christians promote Halloween. Some of you are groaning right now and shaking your head. Well, let me tell you. The devil is not stupid. He knows very well that we can be deceived if he can blind us to the truth. If he can keep us from ever knowing Christ in our lifetime he has won our soul forever. We will go to hell. He works constantly to make it hard to find the truth. Satan and his demons have created a network of substitute religions to keep as many people deceived and confused as possible.

Let’s say that we do let our kids be involved. We get them a cute Barbie or Bat Man costume, decorate the house up like a graveyard, and buy lots and lots of candy. It’s harmless right? You hit the road on Halloween and your little one starts to see other children dressed as witches, demons, and other assorted monsters. What do you say? Now think about this! You are building a foundation here that will shape how they think about the occult.

If you say, it is okay honey, it’s just for fun. Your child will remember that it is acceptable to imitate evil. If you say, just ignore them, they don’t know any better. Your child will learn not to care about the lost around them. Any response that you give that tries to smooth over the representation of the occult in Halloween will dull their ability to determine what is dark and evil and what is light and pure.

Christians that participate in Satan's special evil day will eventually fall away from the true Christian faith, and come under the God-sent delusion if they refuse to repent. If they think the celebration of Satan can be yoked with the worship of God, they will one day believe that Antichrist is God. The Bible is clear about God's will concerning the things of darkness. We are not to have fellowship with them, and we are to criticize them:  "Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them” (Ephesians 5:11).

Let us all teach our children how to wrestle spiritually by discouraging them from participating in traditional Halloween activities (2 Timothy 2:4). Then tell them why and encourage them to pray on a regular, daily basis (Ephesians 6:18). Let them know firsthand the power that we have in prayer. We should know Christians how to fight on our knees. Also, make sure your children are prepared for battle (Ephesians 6:11).

Do they know the truth? Stand on the Word of God? Have faith? Know the gospel? Are they righteous? Are they saved? Christians, instead of celebrating on Satan's banquet day, please PRAY!  Intercession and spiritual warfare should be the first item on our agenda, not the very last option.
May God help you to stand in this evil day of multi-million money ministries that promote Satan in the name of Jesus Christ.
